Alton Towers 'UK first' as bosses tease giant 78ft new ride
Alton Towers says thrill-seekers will enjoy a UK first when the attraction unveils a new 78ft ride. Elements of Toxicator make it a one-of-a-kind in the world.
In addition the ride will be capable of playing host to more than 500 riders per hour. The 'topspin' ride will see thrill-seekers sat back-to-back before being flipped round and then held face down above what the attraction says is a 'bubbling pool of highly toxic alien acid’.
Today and theme park bosses have told punters Toxicator is the first-of-its-kind in the UK and will subject riders to 'heart-pounding centrifugal forces from intense spin patterns'. It will also be the only topspin ride in the world to be elevated above ground level - which means spectators can observe the ride from underneath.

Sat at 78ft-high - thanks to its setting on a 16ft elevated platform - it will be based in Forbidden Valley next to Nemesis Reborn. However the attraction has not given any details of when it will be ready.
Bianca Sammut, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, said: “Alton Towers is renowned for consistently delivering new and reimagined thrills for our fans and as the UK’s only topspin ride, we’re excited to welcome Toxicator to the park. We can’t wait to challenge thrill-seekers to submit to the spin. Located in the heart of Forbidden Valley, this is the latest chapter in the Nemesis story which has captivated generations of thrill-seekers worldwide. We’re not yet ready to reveal precisely when Toxicator will turn your world upside down, but rest assured the wait will be worth it.”
