Amanda Owen opens up on not getting 'happy ending' after Clive split
The Yorkshire Shepherdess told Lorraine that her Channel 4 series Our Farm Next Door was 'relatable' for viewers.
What did you miss?
Amanda Owen has said her new series working together with Clive despite their split is relatable for viewers as "you don't always get the happy ending".
The Yorkshire Shepherdess told Lorraine on Monday about her new show, Our Farm Next Door, where she and Clive are working together to renovate a farmhouse and said it was a "good lesson for the children", as well as their fans.
She also shared that they wanted to secure the new farm for their children as they don't own Ravenseat Farm, their family home that will be familiar to viewers from their many TV series.
What, how, and why?
The Owens might not be together as a couple any more, but Amanda has said not much has changed withe their endless workload and she thinks showing that "you don't always get the happy ending you want" is relatable for their fans, as well as a good lesson for their nine children.
Speaking to Lorraine on Monday about their new programme, Our Farm Next Door, Amanda shared what it had been like to renovate a property with Clive despite their marriage having ended.
"It does seem the same as ever it was," she said. "The work never stops. There's so much that needs doing every single day that we work together as a team and realistically that's an incredibly good lesson for the children. It's about pushing forward, compromise, making our unique situation work. Well, I say work - work to the degree that things in our life tend to work. In other words, chaos."

She said of working together with Clive: "We've got a lot of room and a lot of distractions. First and foremost we're farming. It's yet another diversification, we have our fingers in so many pies that it's just unbelievable. There is enough work to go around times a zillion. It's tough trying to spin all the plates but that's why this programme is relatable, that's why we've been so popular with viewers. You don't always get the happy ending you want, but it's how you negotiate it."
Amanda added that they wanted to renovate the farmhouse next door for their nine children, as they actually don't own Ravenseat Farm, so they wanted to have a home for them to keep.
She said: "Putting down roots. This place here doesn't belong to us and to have the opportunity to buy a farm in its entirety was a dream come true. I say a dream come true, at times it has also been a complete nightmare, but we have a vision of a working farm and a place we can call our own and a place for the children.
"We had nine of them, only one has actually left home. It seems like they gravitate back. In an ideal world I'd have one child in a hot country at all times so I could move round and get past some of this cold Yorkshire weather for a while.
"When you've been brought up here it's in you, it's life lessons, it gives you a real grounding a sense of purpose and you'll take that with you wherever you go in life."
What is Amanda and Clive Owen's new show about?
The Owens' latest series, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids begins tonight at 9pm on More4 and follows the latest part of the family's rural project - even though Amanda and Clive are no longer together.
While they might not be in a relationship any more, the Owens are still working together as they renovate an old farmhouse near their farm.
Announcing the programme, Amanda said: "It is fantastic More4 have given us the opportunity to showcase what we do best, working as a team and battling the elements whilst trying to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory.
"It is no exaggeration to say that filming outdoors on an exposed hill end in Swaledale was at times a huge challenge for the Wise Owl film crew, but their dedication and enthusiasm has never waned. This new project has been a huge undertaking for the whole family and one we are excited to be able to share with the viewers at home.”
Lorraine airs on ITV1 at 9am on weekdays.
