Amanda Holden has emergency surgery after breaking leg on holiday

Amanda Holden has had a metal plate fitted in her leg after breaking it in two places while on holiday.

The 48-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge was playing on a Total Wipeout-style inflatable assualt course on a beach in Europe with her daughter Hollie seven, when she tripped and fell.

Holden was rushed into emergency surgery at a local hospital after snapping her fibula in two places. Holden had a metal plate fitted in her leg and she is now recovering with her leg in plaster.

The TV presenter confirmed in a statement: “Sadly this is true. I suffered a nasty accident while playing in the sea with the family during our half-term holiday and subsequently broke my leg in two places.

“I had an operation on Friday and a metal plate was fitted.”

Holden was enjoying a family holiday with her record producer husband Chris Hughes and daughters Alexa, 13, and Hollie, when she lost her footing while playing on the assault course in the sea.

She now hopes to return to the comfort of her own bed to rest and recuperate.

Holden has vowed to return to work on her Heart FM radio breakfast show with Jamie Theakston on Monday October 28th on crutches.

The injury come just a month after Holden jumped out of a plane at 10,000ft to complete a charity skydive.

The Britain’s Got Talent star took the plunge along with her sister Debbie and 69-year-old mother Judy along with Charlotte Hatton, 17, in the stunt, part of Heart’s Big Skydive, to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise, a charity that helps disadvantaged children and young people.

Holden said afterwards: “I’m going to be honest with you and say that I found an overwhelming sense of calm as we went up in the plane.

“It felt like nothing. I felt like an alien. And kept questioning why my fear didn’t kick in.”
