Amanda Holden late to Heart FM after new arrival disrupts her morning
Amanda Holden was quick to issue an apology to her Heart FM colleague after a furry new addition to her family caused her to run late, resulting in her missing the start of their radio programme.
The 53 year old presenter found herself delayed on Tuesday (September 17) morning, which left her co-host Jason King to start the show solo. Jason, 49, who is filling in for Jamie Theakston during his health battle with stage one laryngeal cancer, was caught off-guard by Amanda's absence.
At the top of the show, Jason expressed his well-wishes: "A big shout out first of all to Amanda Holden who is currently in her taxi, I hope there is a sausage bap in there. I really hope so."
With Amanda running behind, Jason, affectionately known as JK, took the initiative to ring her live on-air to suss out her estimated time of arrival. It was then that Amanda revealed a recent family addition was to blame for her tardiness.
She shared with listeners: "I got one of those little doggies with a heartbeat and a heat pad in for the puppy and she was so good, she was downstairs, literally didn't hear a squeak out of her."
"But all over the house we put on music to help your puppy sleep. I reckon all of us slept brilliantly. I completely recommend it."
Admitting the consequences of the serene canine lullabies she added, "I reckon I didn't wake up because of the flipping puppy music. I'm shattered, I've never had such a good night's sleep in my life."
Despite what appeared to be a well-rested evening, Amanda speculated that her alarm did go off but went unnoticed. JK chimed in with empathy: "I can't believe that you've had a lovely sleep and you've got a new puppy."
"You're supposed to have the most horrendous night's sleep ever. But it's totally the opposite."
Amanda shared, speaking of her experience with the new puppy they are fostering from Battersea Dogs Home, which she says has been "as good as gold". Previously, Amanda revealed how she approached her husband Chris Hughes about keeping the pup, saying she was "fostering" the dog with a "very tiny f", explaining: "It got through to Chris better to say we are fostering."
