Amanda Holden has confirmed Simon Cowell will be back for the 2021 series of Britain's Got Talent, and apparently he's looking better than ever.

Cowell had to take time off from work commitments this year, including the 2020 BGT finals, after breaking his back while testing out a new electric bike.

He's been recuperating away from the spotlight but Holden, 49, has revealed he will be back filming for BGT when auditions kick off next month.

Speaking on Loose Women on Monday, Holden said: "Mr Cowell is coming back. I spoke to him on the phone about four weeks ago now and he sounds on top of the world.

"He is back in an amazing space and apparently he looks fantastic as well and he is definitely back for the next series which we are filming in January so it's pretty imminent.

"It feels like we've never left it this year, we've just been doing it non-stop."

This year’s semi-finals and final were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The pre-recorded auditions aired as usual in spring but the finals began months later in September after TV production could commence again.

Unlike years previous the semi-finals were also pre-recorded and was filmed without a live audience, using a virtual one instead. Diversity’s Ashley Banjo stepped in to replace Cowell as a judge.

As it stands, Holden and Cowell will be back on the judging panel with Alesha Dixon and David Walliams while Ant and Dec return to host the talent contest.

Cowell suffered his injury at his home in Malibu, California where he has since been recuperating.

He was seen around his 61st birthday in October after ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour posted a video of him blowing out the candles on his cake to Instagram.
