The amazing answers Taylor Swift gave when she took the stand in groping trial

It would be a daunting experience for anyone to take to the stand in court and testify. We’d probably question the validity of our own names if put under this sort of pressure.

But yesterday Taylor Swift won the respect of everyone who has ever questioned her character (Bad Blood, Katy Perry, Karadashian row) when she was grilled by the opposing counsel in court in Denver, Colorado.

In case you missed it, Taylor is being sued by DJ David Mueller for $3million because he says he was unfairly sacked from his radio station KYGO after she complained that he put his hand up her skirt and grabbed her bare bottom as they stood side by side for a photo, which also included his girlfriend, at the Pepsi Centre in Denver in 2013.

She’s countersuing him for the symbolic sum of $1.

The picture is doing the rounds online, and we’ve chosen to respect Taylor’s wishes and not include it in this article because even at the time it was taken she made her management order the DJ’s camp to not share it on their social media, because she believed it would encourage ‘scandalous’ behaviour in men towards young women.

And when Taylor was hammered with questions about every second of that meeting with Mueller, she didn’t quiver and doubt herself. She sent a clear and unbreakable message that it is not okay that 99.999% of women are inappropriately manhandled in their lifetime. So honestly, we Thank You Taylor Swift from the bottom of our hearts.

Here are all the satisfying answers Taylor gave inside the court house, with live updates courtesy of Buzzfeed‘s Claudia Rosenbaum.

“I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass.”

She made it clear where she was grabbed…

She made it clear it was him…

She made it clear she won’t carry guilt for the consequences of his actions… because she shouldn’t.

And finally…

Taylor also told the jurors: ‘He stayed attached to my bare a** cheek as I lurched away from him. It was a definite grab. A very long grab.’

Mueller’s attorney Gabriel McFarland asked her whether the DJ got ‘what he deserved” and she replied: ‘I don’t feel anything about Mueller. I don’t know him.

‘I think what he did was despicable and horrifying and shocking.’

Yesterday was also an unpleasant experience for her mother Andrea, who took the stand and said she wanted to ‘vomit’ when she found out what the 40 something year old DJ did to her teenage daughter as they posed for a photograph.

Let’s face it, groping has been normalised for years, and the only woman who has probably never been groped against her wish in this country at least, is the Queen, because it’s against royal protocol to lay a finger on her without her permission and you’d probably get locked in the Tower of London (we hope) if you molested her.

And so despite being horrified too, Andrea said she didn’t report the incident when Taylor told her about it because she ‘didn’t want the moment to define the pop star’s life’.

We hope women won’t be so afraid to report these incidents after seeing Andrea’s warrior daughter stand her ground.
