The Amazing Moment A Seagull Tried To Join In With A Red Arrows Air Display

Does he think he’s part of the Red Arrows?

A daredevil seagull was caught on camera photobombing the legendary formation flying squad - and appearing to try and join in with their display.

David Black snapped the astonishing image at Clacton Air Show on August 27 with just his iPhone.

The 34-year-old roof tiler, from Colchester in Essex, was leaving the event with wife Ruth, 33, and one-year-old Ellana when he took the image.

He said: “They were one of the best things there but we left early while the Red Arrows were on and I was just taking pictures as I walked.

"In fact, I do remember thinking ‘b*ll*cks, a seagull has got in the way of that picture’ at the time.

"I first noticed the picture on the bus and me and Ruth giggled about it, then I showed the parents but it blew up and went everywhere online.

"It was only when I put it online that I realised just how good it was.”

Some have suggested that David photoshopped the bird in.

But David insists he has not tweaked the picture at all.

He also said he would not swap his smartphone for an expensive SLR camera, even if he had the cash.

“I’ve had all sorts of reactions but a few people have said that it must have been photoshopped but I promise you that it is real – I have the sequence to prove it,” he said.

“Photography has always been a hobby of mine and it is something I have always done. It was nice to see all the people with SLRs there and then I go and get a great photo like that.

"I’ve never really had a good camera but I like having the iPhone there so I can just take photos when I want. I love the instinctive nature of it.”
