The 'amazing' Pape Habib Gueye moment that blew Jimmy Thelin away as Aberdeen boss raves after Motherwell win
Jimmy Thelin labelled double hero Pape Habib Gueye “pure quality” - after he took Aberdeen’s winning start to 10 games-in-a-row.
The rejuvenated Senegalese striker sank Motherwell with a brace to put himself clear at the top of the Premiership scoring charts with five goals. The Dons are also level on points with early leaders Celtic. It isn’t bad for a player who had hardly featured and only saw the slate clean by Thelin after he had returned on-loan against Kristiansund.
Thelin said: “Pape has had a good start, his first goal was high class - pure quality. It was an amazing goal, he started so far away from goal but showed good running and a very good finish. I like how he fought for the team and shared the responsibility. We don’t think about what has happened before, Pape came back in June when the loan ended.
“He was fit because he played in Norway so has played because he deserves to play. What happened before doesn’t matter to me, it’s about what players do now and in the future.
“It’s important for the attacking players to make points and get goals. He keeps running until he can’t run any more because he helps us with our press. He got a very good reception from the fans and can be very happy.”
