An amazing photo of a lightning strike in New York has been captured by a Reddit user.

The image shows several lightning bolts raining down on buildings on either side of the Hudson River.

It was taken by redditor evoxio, who operates a photography studio.

In the picture, the lightning bolts fly through a night sky and land at the river.

Evoxio uploaded the picture and wrote: “New York City just witnessed an absolutely massive lightning strike completely spanning the Hudson River.

“I happened to have my camera set up to capture it.”

Lightning in New York this week brought down trees and hit the Empire State Building.

Evoxio’s image drew praise from other redditors.

Shaunc wrote: “Absolutely incredible! This is National Geographic photo of the day material.”

Another user, terminal_mole, said: “In real time you don’t realize how massive these things are; the perspective here is amazing.”
