You've probably heard of Meitu, a Chinese beauty filter app that has recently taken the internet by storm.

But people are moving on to their next beauty obsession — Pitu.

The app doesn't just beautify you, it transforms you into a fantasy character.

Pitu's also got a whole range of looks sorted by theme. For example, there's a whole Chinese New Year range.

It's also a really robust makeup app

If cosplay or Chinese maidens aren't quite your thing, Pitu also offers traditional makeup touchups that are actually pretty precise.

From adding eyeliner, changing your hair colour or your entire face shape altogether — it's all possible on Pitu.

Pitu, which is owned by Tencent, one of the largest internet companies in China, has reached number one for downloads in the App store for countries like China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to its listing description.

The app has also been downloaded some 10 million times according to the Google Play app store, though it's worth noting that some in China use 3rd party app stores so the total number of downloads across the country could be far higher.
