Felicity Jones may have rebelled in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and picked up an Oscar nomination for her role in The Theory of Everything in recent years, but it seems like she still hasn't forgotten some of her earlier roles.

The actress played the role of Felicia Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the deal between Marvel and Sony to put Spider-Man in the MCU quickly put a stop to any thoughts of future Spider-Man sequels exploring her character's superhero alter-ego, Black Cat.

But should any Sony execs with the power to finally get the ball rolling on a Black Cat solo film after the planned Silver Sable and Black Cat team-up movie was dropped then there's good news, as Felicity has said she'd "love to" pick up the role once again.

"Great role. She is a very cool character," Felicity told Yahoo Movies UK when asked about the Felicia Hardy part, before explaining that she never expected there to be more opportunities to play the part.

"There was never anything written down that that would definitely happen," she said. "It was more just... I like playing characters where there's a little bit extra to play with. And it was just fun to play someone who has this other identity as Black Cat.

"I just love the idea of that character. I just think it's really fun."

And when asked if she'd be interested in taking on the part once again, answers don't really get more definitive than this one.

"I'd love to, yeah," Felicity confirmed. "I'd love to keep exploring her. She's a great character."

Following on from Felicity's small appearance as Felicia Hardy in the 2014 film, Sony revealed it was working on a superhero team-up movie with Black Cat and Silver Sable, before later confirming those plans had been shelved in August last year.

That doesn't mean we won't get a chance to see Black Cat on the big screen once again, though, as Columbia Pictures' President, Sanford Panitch, also confirmed at the same time that they were looking into giving both characters a solo movie instead.

"We believe Black Cat is enough of her own character with a great backstory and a canon of material to draw from to justify her own film," he said.

Here's hoping some of Black Cat's bad luck-producing powers don't stop that from happening, then.

Felicity Jones stars as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in upcoming biopic On the Basis of Sex, which is out in the UK on Friday, February 22.
