Amazingly honest British tourist hands plastic bag containing £2,400 to Venice police

A very honest British tourist has been praised by Italian police for handing in a plastic bag containing thousands of euro.

The 67-year-old woman, believed to be from London, found the bag of €2,700 – equating to about £2,400 – during a trip to Venice.

She discovered the bag near the Rio dei Tre Ponti canal in the popular tourist destination during a trip that also took in Rome, Florence and Naples.

Instead of keeping the money herself, the woman brought it to the nearest police station.
