Amazon has dropped the price of Shark’s brilliant anti-hair wrap cordless vacuum that's 'a godsend' even lower
Adulthood means many things, responsibility, independence, staying up past 9pm despite wishing bedtime came a lot sooner and the grown-up purchase of a really good vacuum cleaner. Earlier this year I'd simply had enough of half-baked vacuums which give up the ghost way too early and don't pick anything up.
So, I bit the bullet and bought myself a cordless model from leading vacuum brand, Shark, now down a handy 39% on Amazon from £279.99, on day one of Amazon Prime Big Deals Day it was just 36%. Namely, the stick, anti-hair wrap with pet fitting - I don't have a pet, but, don't laugh, I do end up with lots of hair everywhere so it's not too far off a useful tool in my house.
And after owning the cordless, yes it is light and extremely manageable, vacuum for almost six months I can, with definite certainty, say it's been a life-changing bit of equipment to have at home.

As well as the aforementioned hair issue, I live in quite an old home with a wood-burner, so there always plenty of dust about the place and a bit of soot and ash in my living room, now the nights are getting cooler and I'm enjoying a roaring fire.
Being a little obsessed with vacuuming my house, this Shark stick gets used A LOT. But with the 40-hour battery run time it's often a breeze to get my downstairs done in one go, and have time to squeeze in the landing, too.
Just for information, my downstairs rooms are all wooden floors and tiles, while the stairs, landing and main bedroom is carpeted. It's not a huge house, but the sheer amount of wispy dust, hair and bits and bobs it's a constant battle to keep clear, and the Shark cordless stick is definitely manning the trenches and helping me win that war. Its lightness ensures that it can be carried up and downstairs with ease.
The collapse button in the middle of the stick makes it easy to clean underneath low furniture, which is a godsend to be honest and it means I don't have to pick up or move any chairs for just a weekly clean. What I will say, however, is that where the stick of the vacuum collapses it does feel slightly weaker for it. Of course it does, it also need to fold up from that point, too, but it just means you have to be a bit careful when it comes to picking it up and moving it around.
It would be great to have sturdier support around the stick hinge - but this does not impact its brilliant and powerful cleaning ability. My carpeted stairs never looked so fresh and the fixtures you can add to the hand-held wand of the vacuum for sofas, chairs, material headboards make it so easy to get the dust from those bits of upholstery. For extra oomph you can pull the boost trigger and it makes the powerful suction even more effective.
Now then, the aforementioned hair issue, I was constantly taking my old vacuum head apart to remove hair from the roller. I've not had to do it once for the Shark, it's clear and is picking up the stuff I want it to.
Overall, the Shark Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner is worth the buy if you're in the market for a powerful but neatly storable and effective vacuum. Especially worth it if it's on offer, which, this Amazon Big Deals Day it is - on sale for £170, £10 less than day one.
You can also buy it directly from Shark and quite often they have promotions - currently, it's priced £229.99, but it's sold out right now - find out more Shark vacuum options, here. Currys is also selling it for £229, as is John Lewis, so your best bet for a deal is Amazon.
