Amazon's Marvelous Mrs Maisel is renewed for season 3

From Digital Spy

Good news for fans of 1950s-based, female-led comedy The Marvelous Mrs Maisel – Amazon has renewed it for a third season, despite the second season not actually being released yet.

The series follows a Jewish housewife in New York in 1958 who discovers a passion for stand-up comedy. It stars House of Cards' Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein (aka Family Guy's Lois), and was created by Gilmore Girls' Amy Sherman-Palladino.

News of its renewal (from TVLine) comes after the show won a Peabody Award on Saturday (May 19), which sits nicely on the shelf alongside the Golden Globes for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series or Musical and Critics' Choice awards for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series it's also picked up.

Amazon recently announced that the upcoming fifth season of its hit show Transparent will be its last, after lead star Jeremy Tambor was fired from the show over a sexual misconduct scandal.

Just days after Netflix did the same thing, Amazon revealed the number of subscribers to its paid Prime services. We do have to wonder if those numbers will be affected by the news that the US service has increased by $20 a year for new members from earlier this month, and will go up in June for existing members.

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
