Amazon bestseller draws blank on Reasons to vote for Democrats

A new political book topping Amazon’s bestseller list either explains how the Democratic Party lost the presidential election or offers no answers at all, depending on your point of view.

Or perhaps it does both at the same time.

Reasons To Vote For Democrats: A Comprehensive Guide contains no words, just 266 pages of white space, with a few headings and a bibliography.

Michael Knowles, a conservative journalist, said he “wrote” the book to illustrate the party’s lack of direction.

“It took a very long time to research this book,” he told Fox News.

“I’ve been observing the Democratic Party for at least 10 years now and when I observed their record and reasons to vote for them – on reasons of economics or foreign policy or homeland security or civil rights and so on – I realised it was probably best to just leave all the pages blank.”

It sells for $8 (£6.60) and has been propelled to number one on Amazon’s book chart by coverage in conservative news media.

"Thorough" reads the blurb on its Amazon page.

“What’s really great about this book, you can go cover-to-cover in about 15, 20 seconds,” said Mr Knowles.

The book has generated dozens of five-star reviews from satisfied readers.

“The author knows his subject matter well and drives directly to the heart of the matter,” wrote one. “Mr Knowles delivers to the reader the absolute essence of an American political party lost its way, its vision, and ultimately an election.”

And some Democrats have responded to the joke with their own digs: “One of the best and most comprehensive books ever written by a Republican.”
