Amazon has offered residents of Manchester-by-the-Sea some free Prime memberships.
The US town in Massachusetts was the setting for Kenneth Lonergan's Oscar-winning drama Manchester by the Sea, starring Casey Affleck as a man who has to return to his hometown to look after his nephew.
Not only do the 5,136 residents get Prime free for one year, but they will also get some Wickedly Prime Popcorn to go with it, a product which marks Amazon's latest move into private label food (via The Hollywood Reporter).
The offer coincides with the heartbreaking drama's release on Amazon Prime this Friday (May 5).
"We wanted customers in the town to enjoy popcorn and a movie on us. Manchester by the Sea is a masterpiece representing the best of cinematic storytelling. In other words, it is wicked awesome," enthused Amazon Video's VP Greg Hart.
Manchester by the Sea delivered Amazon's first two Oscars with Affleck winning Best Actor and Lonergan scooping Best Original Screenplay.
The Oscar win for Affleck wasn't without controversy though as it led to a backlash against the actor, after he was sued in 2010 for sexual harassment and verbal abuse by two female colleagues.
Back in March, Lonergan defended his star in an op-ed for his alma mater Wesleyan University's student paper, responding to an earlier piece that accused the writer-director of complicity in Affleck's alleged actions.
