Amazon issues urgent product recall over children's item which is 'serious risk'

Amazon has issued an urgent product recall over a children's item which poses a "serious risk" of injuries. US retail giant Amazon has warned over a kids' item which will pose a significant risk to shoppers who have purchased the product.

A children's stroller sold online has been recalled as it does not meet safety requirements. The Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) said: "This product presents a serious risk of injuries as it is possible for the restraint system to fail while in use.

"If a child under six months was placed in the stroller, the child may fall from the harness as it does not secure the child correctly." It is a "childcare articles and children’s equipment - Baby Stroller", the government said, from brand Wheelive. The model is F1 and Amazon product identifiers are X001BOM23P, FBA15HX71RY3U000086. The SKU is Stroller-cu11.

The country of origin is China The OPSS added: "The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005." It added, as a corrective measure, "the import has been rejected at the border and destroyed".

It explained: "Product: Wheelive Baby Stroller F1 sold via Amazon. Hazard: This product presents a serious risk of injuries as it is possible for the restraint system to fail while in use. Corrective action: The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.

"The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon)." It said: "This product presents a serious risk of injuries as it is possible for the restraint system to fail while in use. If a child under 6 months was placed in the stroller, the child may fall from the harness as it does not secure the child correctly.

"The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005." It went on: "The import has been rejected at the border."
