Ambani-Piramal wedding: The lavish Indian nuptials with a performance from Beyonce

Thought the Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas nuptials were lavish? The wedding of Indian billionaire Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal could make the Chopra affair look pretty low-key by comparison.

Isha Ambani is the daughter of business magnate Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India. Her wedding to Anand Piramal, the son of Ajay and Swati Piramal, which kicked off on Saturday, is looking set to be one of the most lavish Indian society weddings of the year.

A hint of how extravagant their nuptials would be came in September, when Ambani and Piramal threw an engagement party in Lake Como which included a performance from John Legend.

So what better way to kick off wedding party proceedings than with a performance from another superstar? Beyonce Knowles flew in to perform for the couple in Udaipur, Rajasthan on Saturday night, at a party which was also attended by former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

On Sunday night, Beyonce shared a picture of the elaborate red and gold outfit she wore for the party with her 121 million Instagram followers, along with some shots of herself on stage mid-performance.

The performance was a highlight of the couple's initial wedding celebrations, which ran over the weekend in Udaipur.

The pair is now due to fly to Mumbai with their families for their official wedding ceremony, which will take place at the Ambanis' 27-floor Antilia residence, a building which cost an estimated $1 billion to build.

If Priyanka's wedding is anything to go by, there's likely to be more festivities (and plenty of lavish costume changes) to follow.
