Amber Heard Denies 'Defamatory' Claims That She Is Blackmailing Johnny Depp

It’s saddening that within hours of Amber Heard alleging that estranged husband Johnny Depp was physically abusing her she was accused of lying in a bid to get her hands on his millions.

Johnny then added fuel to the fire as his lawyer strongly denied the claims against him and said that Amber was simply trying to gain financially from the situation.

Amber, who sported a badly bruised eye and face when she attended court last week, has now hit back at the “defamatory” claims that she is trying to blackmail her ex, with her lawyer speaking on the star’s behalf.

The final straw seems to have been Johnny’s friend Doug Stanhope writing a guest column for The Wrap, accusing Amber of lying about the abuse and claiming she had “threatened to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her [divorce] terms.”

Doug added: “Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified.”

Amber’s lawyer Peter Sample responded: “[The blackmail claim] has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.

"The allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.”

Amber filed for divorce from the Hollywood actor just three days after his mum passed away, saying in court that her decision to file for divorce was prompted by Johnny attacking her with an iPhone.

She added in the court documents: “during the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me. I endured excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse from Johnny, which has included angry hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned his authority or disagreed with him”.

One of the former couple’s neighbours has since come forward to support Amber in court and sources have revealed that Johnny was “driven insane” by Amber’s close friendship with supermodel Cara Delevingne and was paranoid that they were having an affair.

However, Johnny’s ex Vanessa Paradis and their daughter Lily-Rose have spoken out to defend him, with many other famous faces speaking up to question the authenticity of Amber’s allegations.

Johnny has strongly denied all claims against him.
