'Ambitious' Newcastle target elite addition who will have a 'critical' unseen role

Newcastle United are searching for an elite post-match analyst who will have a 'critical' role at the club.

The new recruit will work closely with Eddie Howe and the first-team coaching staff to deliver 'outstanding' evidence based video and data driven analysis. The club have called it a 'critical role with a direct contribution to first-team performance' and stated that it is an 'outstanding opportunity to directly impact the continued growth of an ambitious Premier League club'.

It will fall to the new recruit, for instance, to develop and lead an elite post-match analysis process to produce team, unit and individual video and data feedback to Howe, the first-team coaching staff and players. The analyst will work on short, medium and long-term post-match analysis projects, including post-match feedback, individual player development programs and the review of previous performances against opponents, as well as develop core technical and tactical workflows and supporting databases e.g. defensive principles of play.

Perhaps, then, it is not a surprise that it is essential that the successful candidate has experience working at an elite professional football club. Newcastle want someone with excellent football knowledge to observe, analyse and interpret technical and tactical performance at the highest level as Howe looks to continue to 'improve what we deliver' for the players - just as he vowed in his first months in the job.

"We need to produce a higher level of everything right across the board for the players," the Newcastle boss previously said. "We need to give them every tool that they need to produce their best performances on a consistent basis so whatever area of the club that is, whether it is analysis, food or sleep, we need to try and educate the players as best we can.

"You will only do that with the best staff. I don't quite know what areas we will be looking to improve our product in but, certainly, that quest will never cease for me. It's always about trying to help the players in any way that we can."
