Ambulance statement on large 999 presence which closed Nuneaton's Heath End Road

Ambulance bosses have explained the large 999 presence which saw part of a main Nuneaton road closed. Police cars blocked off part of Heath End Road on Saturday (September 28).

Ambulances and fire engines were at the scene. As part of the emergency services response an air ambulance also landed nearby.

At the time, rumours were circulating on social media about the nature of the incident. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has confirmed to CoventryLive that they responded to a medical emergency at a private medical address on Saturday afternoon.

Due to challenges in accessing the patien the fire service was called to the scene and police were asked to close the road. A patient, who has not been identified but is a man, was later taken to hospital.

"We were called to a medical emergency at a private residential property on Heath End Road, Nuneaton at 2.42pm on Saturday 28th September," the WMAS spokesperson said.

"Several ambulance resources attended the scene along with fellow emergency service colleagues due to challenges accessing the patient. The patient was conveyed to hospital in a stable condition for further treatment."

A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Alongside fellow emergency service colleagues, WFRS can confirm it was present to help an individual leave his property in order to receive medical attention." Warwickshire Police confirmed that officers were sent to the area to deal with the road closure.
