Ambulances From Across America Park at Bronx Zoo for NYC Relief Operations

Ambulances from across the US gathered on April 1 at the Bronx Zoo, where they will base rescue operations to relieve beleaguered New York emergency crews tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

This video was posted by the Bronx Zoo on their official Facebook page. In a note accompanying the video, the zoo wrote: “250 ambulances from around the country arrived to help NYC during the COVID-19 crisis and are currently staged in our parking lot. We’re extremely proud and happy to help in this effort and provide a base for this critical operation.”

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is coordinating the program, which brought 500 EMTs and paramedics to the city in addition to the ambulances.

As of 5 pm on April 1, New York City had recorded over 45,000 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, as well as at least 1,374 deaths related to complications from the virus. Nearly 10,000 New Yorkers have been hospitalized. Credit: Bronx Zoo via Storyful
