We already know American Horror Story is bringing back the serial-killing clown Twisty for new season Cult, so it makes sense that the first teaser is a coulrophobe's nightmare.

One clown is bad enough, but there are loads of the creepy creatures in this teaser, so if clowns make you feel a bit uneasy, it's probably best to skip it.

This lot don't have crazy red hair, they're bald, which we reckon makes them even weirder and more frightening.

Ryan Murphy is focusing on a political theme this year, creating a direct response to the election of Donald Trump as US president – which is already terrifying.

Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter and Cheyenne Jackson are all returning for the new season, while newcomers include Lena Dunham, Arrow's Colton Haynes, Alison Pill, Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner.

The showrunner has also described exactly how the upcoming American Horror Story season will begin.

"The first 10 minutes of the season, this season, takes place in a very eerie macabre way on election night – and there's something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they're watching it all go down," he recently teased.

"Which in itself was a horror story, so it's like a horror story upon a horror story."

American Horror Story's seventh season will premiere on September 5 - just in time for a creepy theme-park tie-in to open.
