American Horror Story season 8 brings back Cult stars

From Digital Spy

If you liked the core cast of American Horror Story: Cult, the forthcoming eighth season will be right up your alley as well.

Producer Ryan Murphy shared the news recently that Cult's two leads, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, were both returning for the eighth season as part of a storyline set "18 months from today".

Cult centred around a group of serial killers led by the charismatic Kai Anderson (Evan Peters), with Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Adina Porter among his acolytes.

At an Emmy Awards panel on Sunday (April 8), Murphy confirmed that the aforementioned Cult trio will all be back for season eight, as will series veteran Cheyenne Jackson.

Billy Eichner seemed thrilled about the big news, writing on Twitter: "Well I'm insanely excited to let you know I'll be joining Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman, Cheyenne Jackson and JOAN COLLINS on the next season of @AHSFX."

As the former Billy on the Street presenter mentioned, Dame Joan Collins is joining the American Horror Story ensemble to play the grandmother of Evan Peters' character, who is described as being a comedic hairdresser.

During Sunday night's panel, Murphy likened the unnamed eighth season to the more surreal early seasons of the show, rather than the more "grounded" Cult.

"It's not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season," he said. "We're sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. It's that tone. That's the tone of it."

American Horror Story is expected to return on FX in the US and FOX UK later in the year.
