An American who moved to Edinburgh has been left baffled by the change in weather in a town near the city.

Ed, who has been documenting his new life in Edinburgh on TikTok, spent a day in Crieff, just an hour away from the capital city.

In a light-hearted video he explained that he left a cold, wet, and grey Edinburgh. When he arrived at his destination, he was greeted with highs of 20C.

Edinburgh has been hit with a strong haar over the weekend which left the city feeling damp and cold. However, towns located inland were soaking up the sun with highs of 22C.

Ed said: "I am in Scotland and I am very confused. Back in Edinburgh, it is cold and wet and grey. But I am in Creiff, which is about an hour away from Edinburgh and I am in a T-shirt and shorts. It is California weather right now.

"My question is why didn't they build Edinburgh or Glasgow here? I thought Scotland was cold and grey all over, I did not know you could have this weather an hour away from Scottish weather."

He added: "I am proposing a new society the Scottish sun chasers and we look at the forecast for the following day that has the warmest nicest weather and we will enjoy each other's company in this splendid place."

Over 200 people flocked to the comments, with many stressing how quickly the weather can change, with one writing: "Who's going to tell him? It's Scotland. It can change in five minutes."

Another added: "But when it's sunny in Edinburgh, it's raining in Crieff!"

"Glasgow and Edinburgh have different weather," a third commented, "Edinburgh is always colder but drier. West is best but drier."

And a fourth said: "Moved to Edinburgh at the end of August and HOW WAS IT THAT COLD in August?"
