American living in UK 'completely baffled' by basic UK household items
An American has shared his bafflement at certain aspects of British households, leaving viewers in fits of laughter.
The influencer, known as kjordyyy on TikTok, experienced a "culture shock" upon moving to the UK and observing how Brits run their homes. There are several things he simply can't wrap his head around.
Despite now residing in the UK, he confessed there are many things that "still don't make sense" to him, such as why tumble dryers are never located next to washing machines. The sight of a drying rack in someone's living room completely astounds him.

He commented: "You have to hang things up like it's the 18th century bro. It's the struggle. Next thing is two things in one. The water pressure from a normal tap. Insane. Like, the cold water doesn't get that cold, but the hot water get's like steaming/boiling."
He also confessed that plug sockets baffle him due to their ability to be switched off. They only function when the red "on" sign is visible, preventing unnecessary electricity usage. "Also, maybe it's my crib, but y'all lightbulbs just be out here like raw dogging it in your living room without no like shade or lampshade or nothing," he added. "All aesthetic and then - boom - single light bulb."
He also mourned the lack of ice machines in fridges, a feature common in the US, saying "RIP" to a nice cold drink. The content creator has been living in the UK for approximately four years, and he admitted these things still "throw him off now".
The video has left viewers in fits of laughter, with over 22,000 people liking it and sparking a conversation about how we present our homes. One viewer remarked: "Wild to me that American plug sockets are always live."
Another shared their experience: "It's funny, as when I was in Texas, I asked my friend why she has a drier and not hang clothes outside as it's regularly hot. Clothes would take minutes to dry."
A third person added: "You didn't mention the bathroom light switch being outside the bathroom." A fourth chimed in saying: "As a Brit, I thought most of us had tumble dryers."
