London sports bar with New York pizzas and baseball playing opens in Westfield

A new sports-themed pizzeria has opened in west London, and owners are hoping customers are ready to hit a home run before gorging on their pepperoni slices. Moonshot, a US-style immersive baseball experience and restaurant, filled with tech-enabled batting cages, opened this week in west London.

Moonshot brings the spirit of baseball culture to the heart of London, blending the US's favourite sport with an American-inspired menu, from gourmet hot dogs to New York style pizza, serving ice cold beers and cocktails.

In true American form, the restaurant opened in Westfield, Shepherd’s Bush, on Thursday, November 28 – just as red, white and blue citizens were celebrating Thanksgiving. Co-founder Calum Mackinnon says he is "is excited to get stuck in, bringing a new experience and tempo to London’s social scene".

Moonshot aims to be London’s go-to American hangout – one that combines the thrill of the batting cages with a live sports bar and restaurant. Its owner Motherclub Hospitality is also behind the Sixes cricket restaurant, with several outlets in London including Fitzrovia, Fulham and London Bridge.

Motherclub says its new Moonshot brand aligns with its mission of "creating world class entertainment concepts that blur the lines between iconic global sports and traditional hospitality with the goal of bringing people together for good times shared". Besides the baseball batting experience and US-style food and drinks, Moonshot will also focus on great music and show a packed program of live sports on its TV screens.

Moonshot’s baseball cages are powered by the latest immersive technology from Batfast. The challenger selects their level from complete beginner through to drafted professional before testing their skills as they try to hit targets - single, double, triple or the ultimate Home Run, Moonshot.

Mr Mackinnon added: "We are very ready to bring the thrill of baseball and the allure of American sport to London through the creation of Moonshot. The venue will embody all the things we love about American sport with an intoxicating social vibe.
