After a dismal performance that saw him quit the very first Bushtucker Trial of the 2017 series, I’m A Celebrity contestant Amir Khan looks set to fail a second challenge.

In scenes to be aired in Tuesday’s show, the boxer, who was chosen to face the Flushed Out challenge in the public vote, can be seen struggling to get hold of stars as he fends off Australian crayfish called yabbies in an underwater tank.

Hosts Ant and Dec looked on in disbelief as Khan grabbed a yellow key to unlock a box containing of the stars, but then proceeded to drop it.

After diving down to the bottom of the tank several times to retrieve it, the 30-year-old resurfaced with what appeared to be the key, only for him to realise it was in fact the wrong number.

“He’s got it, good lad. Oh it’s the wrong one, oh no, back down,” said Declan Donnelly as he and co-presenter McPartlin watched Khan battling to get hold of the right object.

Tuesday’s show saw the former Olympic athlete crash out of the Critter-cal Rescue challenge due to his fear of snakes.

Khan had been searching for yellow stars hidden in holes filled with insects, crabs and reptiles when he accidentally grabbed a snake and pulled it out.

He was so shocked by the mishap that he shouted: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”, cutting short the trial and preventing himself and fellow contestant Georgia Toffolo from winning any meal tickets for that evening.

I’m A Celebrity continues Tuesday, November 21 at 9pm on ITV.
