Emmerdale's Tracy and David Metcalfe may have just split for good after an emotional double bill.

Thursday's episodes (March 8) saw Tracy finally stand up to David for not supporting her since her traumatic past was exposed.

David has seemed uneasy around Tracy (Amy Walsh) after discovering that she worked as a prostitute when she was desperate for cash years ago.

Tracy's former client Phil recently tried to blackmail her over their history, but he got his comeuppance in court this week following her decision to report him to the police.

Phil was forced to plead guilty after another woman came forward to make a similar complaint about him, inspired by Tracy's bravery.

While Tracy was proud of herself for taking action against sleazy Phil, Emmerdale's latest episodes saw her grow horrified when she realised that David felt very differently and was secretly ashamed of her.

When Tracy spotted that David had binned dozens of newspapers to stop the villagers from reading about the Phil case, she took her revenge by humiliating him during his big meal with Dr Cavanagh and his wife.

David's dreams of impressing the local doctor ahead of the retail awards judging were left in tatters as Tracy told the Cavanaghs that she used to be a prostitute, leaving David mortified.

Although David (Matthew Wolfenden) later sought out Tracy at her sister Vanessa's house to apologise, the damage had already been done as she told him she wanted nothing more to do with him.

Tracy explained: "I don't need to feel bad about myself, just so I can spend my waking hours selling groceries in your corner shop.

"I've seen something in you that I really don't like. And I don't think I can ever unsee it. Just go."

Even with things looking so bad at the moment, Tracy is still yet to find out about David's secret one-night stand with his ex Leyla Harding. Could there be worse still to come?

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
