The I’m A Celebrity runner-up, who plays Adam Barton on the Dales-set soap, was said to be leaving the show after eight years, with new plans to pursue presenting opportunities.

However, an amused Adam appears to have poured cold water over the reports, tweeting to his 311,000 followers:

Before jokingly inviting his fans on to his rumoured new chat show:

Speculation of Adam’s departure from the ITV soap – which secured the second highest audience of 2017 – surfaced on Wednesday night when The Sun reported that the actor was to be written out of the script in late 2017.

A source told the newspaper: “Adam’s had a great time but he’s spent eight years in the Dales and thinks the time is right.

“It’s a headache for bosses as he’s a recognisable face, especially after I’m A Celebrity.”

Temporarily stepping away from his acting career last year, Adam joined the line-up of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and achieved third place behind stand up comedian Joel Dommett and Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt.

Following his triumphant return from the jungle, Adam was once again forced to deny his rumoured plans to swap the Dales for the Hollywood hills, after it was alleged he wanted to crack the market across the pond.

Appearing on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, the cheeky chap quipped: “Am I going to Hollywood? I wish! Bye Emmerdale, I’m off!”

He then added: “I love Emmerdale. I’m not going anywhere.”

Well, that’s settled that then.

Emmerdale continues tonight on ITV1 at 7pm and 8pm.
