Ferne McCann opens up about 'turbulent' seven months after Arthur Collins acid attack

Ferne McCann has shed some light on how difficult the past seven months have been for her, with the reality star left devastated when her boyfriend, Arthur Collins, carried out an acid attack in a London nightclub in April.

The star, who had just discovered that she was pregnant with his child, immediately cut off all ties with Arthur, and released a heartfelt statement when he was found guilty last month.

Now Ferne has appeared on This Morning to introduce her newborn daughter Sunday, admitting that the baby has been the “light” in her life following a “turbulent” few months.

She told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “This year it wasn’t the plan to have a baby but you can’t plan life so it just happened. I wasn’t the most maternal person but now I feel so maternal and I’m so in love with her.

“And I think that’s the thing for me – there was always light at the end of the tunnel. You know, I can’t lie – it has been a turbulent seven months for me but I had something to look forward to so that was my focus.

Arthur will be sentenced later this month.

“I could always focus on the fact that I’m pregnant and I’m going to welcome Sunday into my life.”

Ferne also confessed that she “knew” she would be raising her unborn child alone as soon as Arthur was arrested in April, with the star previously admitting that she had moments where she felt his absence.

Speaking in the trailer for her new reality show First Time Mum, Ferne explained: “Being pregnant has been the most fulfilling thing ever but you do want to share this with the person you created this life.

“There’s not a day that’s gone by where I haven’t cried. I don’t think you realise how much strength you’ve actually got.”

The 27-year-old star is said to have taken her newborn to prison to meet Arthur for a “first and final time”, with Ferne reportedly keen to show the 25 year old what he will be missing out on.

Arthur is due to be sentenced for his crime on 19 December.
