Amy Dowden living with Tom and Giovanna Fletcher following hospitalisation

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden is living with her celebrity partner Tom Fletcher's family as she recovers from her hospitalisation.

Many Strictly viewers noticed that the dancer, who was eliminated from the competition with the McFly star earlier this month, was absent from the audience over the weekend, and on Monday, she revealed on Instagram that she was rushed to hospital after she experienced an "unexpected" Crohn's disease flare-up.

"Unfortunately, I was missing from the show as I had an unexpected Crohn's flare-up and hospital admission in which I received unbelievable care," she wrote besides pictures of her stay in hospital and with the Fletchers. "I'm recovering very well and certainly being well looked after and look forward to returning to the dance floor."

She went to explain that Tom and Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, who has also been eliminated from this series, took care of her when she fell ill as her partner Ben Jones was away in Blackpool with a dance school, and she is staying with Tom, Giovanna, and their three sons as she recovers.

"To the Fletchers who made sure I had everything and more at the hospital, have brought me back to theirs where the whole family are giving me all the love, care, burnt toast (Tom), unlimited supply of @mrsgifletcher clothes along with @tomfletcher sock choice you could possibly need, lots of drawings and pretend injections from my new doctors Buzz, Buddy and Max. Thank you, they really were sent to me," she gushed.

In the comments, Sara revealed Amy was rushed to hospital in an ambulance, writing, "Omg you're looking so much better than when I last saw you as we closed the doors on the ambulance as they carted you off on Friday night and me and Tom were just watching them drive off into the night with tears in our eyes (sic)!"

Amy has been open about her battle with Crohn's disease, which caused inflammation in the digestive system, and released a documentary about her experience with the condition last year.
