Amy Dowden, who is known and loved as a professional dancer on the hit BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing, has spoken about her new career move. In a video posted on her Instagram account, Amy revealed it was "like therapy".

In April 2023 Amy announced that she had written a book, called Dancing in the Rain, which is a "deeply personal story" including how dance has helped her during extremely tough times such as her undiagnosed Crohn's disease and breast cancer diagnosis last year. Now she has discussed her book, which is available to pre-order, on Instagram.

Opening her first copy of the book, Amy said: "It feels so real now... this book was like therapy for me, going through some hard times, from childhood, especially with Crohn's disease... actually having to go through this has helped me process it."

"Obviously I've talked about my dancing journey... how tough it was to get there, I didn't always win, hardly did I win, those rejections I had and how my Crohn's disease very often got in the way and obviously in here is my recent diagnosis, my cancer, my breast cancer."

Many of Amy's celebrity friends commented on the post. BBC Morning Live presenter Helen Skeleton left three love heart emojis, Strictly It Takes Two presenter Fleur East said: "This is amazing xx congratulations xx" with three clapping emojis and professional dancer Ian Waite said: "How wonderful Amy keep up the great work" followed by heart and clapping emojis.
