Amy Poehler's new animated comedy Duncanville will be back for a second season.

The series, which is co-created by and includes the voice of the Parks and Recreation star, centres on a 15-year-old called Duncan and his family.

Fox has now confirmed that it will be getting more episodes, its President of Entertainment Michael Thorn saying: "Duncanville is another great addition to our Sunday Animation Domination block.

"[Creators] Amy, Mike [Scully] and Julie [Thacker Scully] have been fantastic partners, as have the teams at 20th and Universal Television.

"Our thanks also go out to the entire voice cast, including Ty [Burrell], Riki [Lindhome], Betsy [Sodaro], Yassir [Lester], Zach [Cherry], Joy [Osmanski], Rashida [Jones] and Wiz [Khalifa]. Duncan may be an average teen. However, the show is anything but, and we can't wait for a brand-new season of Harris family adventures."

With the show's debut back in February, inevitable comparisons were made to shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy and King of the Hill.

Speaking about what sets Duncanville out from the pack, Julie told Digital Spy: "Well, we have a teenager at the centre of Duncanville, and most of the other animated shows, at least on Fox, you know, they're usually around the dad. It's kind of a dumb dad feeling. So we decided we wanted to do something different.

"We wanted to look like a Fox show. So we do have a family at the centre, but we also like the – I don't know if you ever saw That '70s Show? But you go through the parents' POV or the kids' POV, and that's what we wanted to do."

Mike added: "What we like about That '70s Show is, you have a high-school kid in the middle of it. But the kids act kind of one way with their family, and another way with their friends. So we were trying to find a funny balance between the two."

Duncanville airs on Fox in the US, and is available to watch Friday nights on Channel 4.
