Amy Schumer’s Crotch Is on Fire — Literally

Thank you @vanityfair and Annie Leibovitz who I had to beg to take this shot

Amy Schumer’s career is on fire and now she is too — literally.

The comedienne, who appears on the May 2016 cover of Vanity Fair, has brought new meaning to “it’s lit.” Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Schumer poses in just a “No Coffee, No Workee” T-shirt with her nether regions engulfed in flames.

While the rest of the images from the editorial are very Old Hollywood, with the Trainwreck star wearing red and gold corsets, this shot’s certainly different. So who had the idea? Schumer, of course. “I begged Annie to photograph me with no underwear on in just a T-shirt,” Schumer told the magazine. “I explained to her how important it was to me and she finally agreed. I felt powerful and beautiful. She understood once we shot it. Or maybe she ran to the bathroom to throw up. It was one of the most meaningful moments of my life.”

Leibovitz has worked with Schumer before, having shot her in the buff for the Pirelli calendar last year, so insistence on doing something different couldn’t have been much of a surprise. But for Jessica Diehl, the stylist on set, switching things up like that was far from the plan. But no matter — Diehl, who styled Caitlyn Jenner for her big reveal issue, went with the flow. “We’re not telling a fashion story — we don’t have to stick to one look throughout,” she said. “And she’s so multifaceted that if you put her in one box, you’re really not telling enough of this whole person’s story. Her voice is very zeitgeisty, and ballsy, and feisty, that it didn’t seem she could be boxed into one concept.”

Good thinking: Schumer would probably burn through the box anyway.
