Directed by Ron Howard, the film recounts a survival tale from two different perspectives and is being described as "a darkly comic tale of murder and survival," with filming set to take place during the last few months of 2023 in Queensland, Australia.

Origin of Species will see a group of people in the Galápagos islands who have decided to abandon civilisation, as they aim to discover the meaning of life. The script comes from Noah Pink, whose work includes the recent Apple TV+ film Tetris.
