Andy Murray has withdrawn from this week's ATP event in Cologne due to an ongoing pelvic injury.

The three-time Grand Slam winner sent out a video via his official social media channels on Sunday night revealing that he was dealing with tendinitis in his left psoas muscle.

Following his first-round exit to Stan Wawrinka at the French Open in September, Murray received a wildcard entry and was defeated by Fernando Verdasco in the first round of the bett1HULKS Indoors ATP competition in Cologne last week.

He had been due to face Serbia's Danilo Petrovic in Germany on Monday, but has now pulled out of the tournament as a result of an issue that has been bothering him since the US Open at Flushing Meadows, where he came through a gruelling five-setter against Yoshihito Nishioka before being eliminated in straight sets by Felix Auger Aliassime.

"It's been kind of on and off since the US Open," Murray said.

"I've been trying to deal with it in training, and in the matches, and unfortunately after my match here this week it's flared up again.

"I've been practising the last few days and trying to manage it, but after playing some points today, I decided that it was not going to be good enough to play."
