Anger grows over issues at Nuneaton's shopping centre as urgent talks called
A request for an urgent meeting has been made over concerns at Nuneaton's biggest shopping centre. Over recent weeks anger has grown over issues at the Ropewalk Shopping Centre primarily around the multi-storey car park.
This is includes weeks of the lifts being broken. CoventryLive has also received a complaint from a local mum about some of the floors of the car park being closed.
"We popped into town and they had closed from the 3rd floor upwards , only leaving 2 floors to park," said the mum, who did not want to be named.
"I had a child in my car and need child parking space to get pushchair out. Are they (the council) closing it?"

While the council does not run the shopping centre nor the car park, it does own the land it sits on. CoventryLive put the concerns to the Town Hall and in a statement, the local authority said: "
We have checked our CCTV footage on the day in question and can see that the car park was fully open and operational during the standard hours until 6pm. At 6pm the top two floors were closed and the remainder of the car park was open as usual for gym users, as is standard practice.”
A post on the council's Facebook social media page, has also explained that it has called for urgent talks with management at the shopping centre. This follows a previous statement in which the council said that it would not make representations to centre management on behalf of residents.
The statement online reads: "Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is aware of a number of issues at Ropewalk Shopping Centre and has requested an urgent meeting with the shopping centre's management team. The council is looking to raise the issues on behalf of residents and for these to be addressed."
