Anglesey campsite is named the best in the UK by the AA
A campsite on Anglesey has been named the best in the UK. The annual AA Caravan & Camping Awards have announced the top outdoor accommodation spots for the 2024-25 season.
They said the winners offer the best of "scenic retreats and luxurious glamping", with a new Sustainable Park award showing a growing preference for eco-friendly and unique staycations among UK travellers.
The best campsite across the whole of the UK was Tyddyn Isaf Caravan Park on the island of Anglesey. Situated near Traeth Llugwy it was called a "memorable holiday destination".

The Mount family, who have run the site for nearly 50 years, said: "Being awarded the title of AA Campsite of the Year 2024–25 honours the unwavering dedication of our family to Tyddyn Isaf Caravan Park over the past five decades, and acknowledges our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional experiences for our guests while promoting responsible tourism and sustainable practices.
"We are immensely proud to be acknowledged as the best in the industry and believe this accolade reflects positively on our dedication to quality, community, and environmental stewardship."
An AA Inspector said this about the site: "This is a beautifully situated family park on rising ground adjacent to a sandy beach with magnificent views overlooking Lligwy Bay. A memorable holiday destination, it has been in the Mount family since 1975, with daughter Haley and husband Simon continuing the family tradition of excellent hospitality and service.
"Due to the undulating nature of the park, quality hardstanding pitches, most fully serviced and offering excellent privacy, have been created ensuring all have stunning coastal and country views – the sunsets here are particularly spectacular. In addition to superb amenity blocks, all with excellent privacy cubicles, guests can unwind and indulge at very smart Grazing Ground, a new coffee lounge and bar serving pastries and snacks all day, best enjoyed on the alfresco terrace with views of the Anglesey coastline.
"A fabulous reception building opened in 2024, with a shop, Y Mochyn Bach takeaway offering wood-fired pizzas, and upstairs is a gym and a business centre, with high-speed internet. The popular Welsh village where the work to protect it is also causing harm
"Sustainability and conservation are taken very seriously – there are 200 solar panels powering all the buildings, and 8,500 trees were planted in 1992, and this now mature woodland is a peaceful haven for guests to discover the rich flora and fauna. Wildflower meadows and a private footpath to the beach complete the impressive picture.”
Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Media, said: "As local travel continues to grow and sustainable tourism gains momentum, we are excited to announce the best camping and caravanning destinations for the upcoming year. This year's winners have demonstrated outstanding quality along with a strong dedication to eco-friendly practices and customer satisfaction, making them excellent options for UK travellers."
