Youtube star Angry Grandpa has died at the age of 67.

Angry Grandpa, whose real name was Charles Marvin Green Jr became an Internet sensation with his YouTube channel TheAngryGrandpaShow.

The channel shared clips of Mr Green reacting to pranks carried out by his son Michael.

Since beginning the channel, Angry Grandpa has racked up 3.5 million YouTube subscribers.

The news of his death was announced by his son Michael in a tribute video posted on Youtube on Monday which showed him breaking down in tears.

He said: “Today I’ve got to make a very unfortunate video. I’ve never wanted to make this video. Today we lost Angry Grandpa.”

He continued: “Maybe I should not be filming this right now because it just happened but I respect him too much to hide how I feel from the internet. People are going to make fun of me for crying and that’s okay. I’ll take it because if he’s out there somewhere I hope he can hear me.”

He went on to explain that his father had been diagnosed for with cancer in 2016 and gone into remission, however in July this year he was diagnosed with final stage cirrhosis of the liver.

Michael went on to say that his father’s health had continued to deteriorate after his diagnosis.

He said that his father had died at home.

Mr Green had also announced his father’s death on Twitter in a statement.

He wrote: “Heaven just got a whole lot angrier. Dad, I’m going to miss you more than I even understand as I write this.”

TheAngryGrandpaShow which posted its first video seven years ago had a total of nine million views and a loyal fan base who described themselves as “Grandpa’s Army”.

The YouTube vlogger who was born in Charleston, South Carolina, also had a personal YouTube channel called Grandpa’s Corner, where he made cooking videos and spoke about his life.

Tributes to Angry Grandpa appeared on social media from fans and fellow celebrities.

Wrestling commentator Paul Heyman described Mr Green as a “YouTube pioneer” and wrote: It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the passing of Charles Green, better known around the world as "The Angry Grandpa."

A fan called Cameron wrote: “Today YouTube lost a legend, the world lost a great man, us youngins lost our hero, and the Green family lost there Angry Grandpa!”

Another fan who created a painting for Angry Grandpa wrote: “R.I.P @TheAngryGrandpa ...Had a blast creating this massive painting of you!! Thank you for your support and what you did for the YouTube community. You will be missed by millions.”

Vine star Big Nik wrote: “Angry grandpa was my childhood, he made such an impact on millions of people. Praying for you and your family, dealing with loss is hard".
