Volunteers have issued a plea to the owner of a dog found tied up outside a Potteries police station. The pooch had been discovered outside the facility in Burslem - and was promptly named 'Bobby'.

He is now being cared for by volunteers at Animal Lifeline. But the Cellarhead-based charity has taken to its Facebook page to make a plea to the dog's owner.

The social media post states: "To the owner of this dog that has been left outside Burslem police station - why did you have to tie him up and just run off? What’s his name? How old is he? Why isn’t he chipped? What's his favourite toy, his favourite food?

"We know nothing about this boy, his history or why he ended up being left but sadly unless someone comes forward we may never know. Times are hard for people currently which we understand but it’s hard for rescues too having to pick up the pieces for abandoned pets."

The pooch is now 'safe' with Animal Lifeline with the cops at Burslem naming him 'Bobby'. Anyone who has information on him is asked to make contact with Animal Lifeline through their Facebook page here.
