Animal Rights Protesters Climb UK's Environmental Protection Department in London

Animal rights protesters scaled the UK’s Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs in London on the morning of October 26, demanding the UK “defund meat.”

Animal Rebellion said in a statement that protesters would “remain on the building, suspended in hammocks, until UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledges to cut all taxpayer support for animal agriculture and promises to urge all world leaders to do the same when they attend the COP26 summit later this week.”

Police said they were “engaging” with the group, adding that no arrests had been made.

Police later said they were “working as quickly as possible to remove those who have climbed the building in the safest way.” Credit: @rikesger & @dillon.p_photography via Storyful
