Anne-Marie says she feels she has already won an award — because she is the only woman nominated for a Brit in her category.

The Essex-born singer, 25, will go up against Skepta, Stormzy, Rag ’n’ Bone Man and Blossoms at Wednesday’s ceremony.

“In the British Breakthrough Act I’m the only girl nominated so I already feel like I’ve won a little bit, I’m halfway there already,” she said.

“It would be amazing, just the fact that it’s the Brits, it’s all about UK music, it would just be amazing. I don’t want to think that I’m going to do it but it would be incredible if that happened.”

The star, right, whose full name is Anne-Marie Nicholson but goes by her first name, was also shortlisted for this year’s critics’ choice award after featuring on Clean Bandit’s smash hit Christmas number one single Rockabye, up for three Brit awards.

“I’m not going to have a speech prepared,” she said. “I’m just going to remind myself to not swear because I’m so bad at that. I’ll try not to. I’m just going to party really hard if I win, I think I’m going to go to every single after party.”

Anne-Marie, whose new single Ciao Adios is out now, is gearing up to release her debut album later this year.

She said: “It’s definitely this year, it’s definitely more towards summer and autumn. I haven’t got a specific date yet, but it’s all ready. I just need to release a couple more songs before I release the album, just to get some more stuff out before it’s there.

“I’m so, so happy, which is why I feel better. I feel good about everything because I love my own music — I just feel really satisfied at the moment. I feel like whatever happens, I’m just knowing it’s come from my heart. I’ve absolutely loved it, it’s exciting.”

Anne-Marie’s new single is about ditching a cheating ex-boyfriend, but she isn’t worried about him listening.

“No, I don’t care,” she said. “I don’t even know if they’re going to think it’s about them, or they might think it’s about them and it’s not. I’m not going to talk to them so I don’t mind really, they can think what they want.”
