Another star of 'My 600-lb Life' dies: 'Her body just gave out'

Another tragic ending for one of the subjects featured on My 600-lb Life. Arleasher “Lisa” Fleming died Thursday at the age of 50, according to an emotional social media post from her daughter. Fleming appeared on Season 6 of the TLC show on which severely obese people are coached with the hopes of undergoing gastric bypass surgery.

One of Fleming’s five children, Danielle, made the sad announcement on Facebook with a photo of her holding hands with her mom. “This morning I sat and held your hand for 4 hours knowing nothing I could’ve done would bring you back to me,” she wrote on Facebook. “Anybody who knows me knows I gave my mother my ALL! She was my world and I was her #NumberOneGirl Mommy, I love you from here to the stars and back!” She added that her daughters loved their grandma “even more.”

I am truly at a loss for words right now. God knows I wanted you to hold on until I got here but He knew what was best…

Danielle also pleaded for help: “Y’all pray for me, check on me, come see about me because I am not ok! I love my mama & I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worse enemy.”

Lisa Fleming weighed more than 700 pounds when she started My 600-lb Life, and hadn’t walked in more than a year.

However, Danielle daughter told TMZ that Lisa’s death had nothing to do with her weight. Apparently, the elder Fleming had lost 200 pounds after she appeared on the show and was actually able to stand on her own.

Fleming was sick before her appearance on the show and “the various illnesses took their toll over time.” Danielle said, “At the end she was sick and her body was tired and her body just gave out.”

Lisa Fleming had a difficult life, beginning with the divorce of her parents when she was a child. Food became a friend for this teen mom, and the deaths of her mother, father, and brother only exacerbated her unhealthy relationship with eating.

Fleming reached 704 pounds at the age of 49, which is when she reached out to the show’s Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, according to Radar Online. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful on the show, struggling to keep weight off and adjust to a different diet. She never underwent weight-loss surgery.

This isn’t the first death to strike the show. Earlier this month, James “L.B.” Bonner, who also appeared on Season 6, committed suicide. In March, Robert Buchel, a 41-year-old participant, died of a heart attack while awaiting weight-loss surgery.
