Steve Brookstein is still talking - and Westlife’s Brian McFadden is among those (everyone?) who would like him to stop.

Me? Yes you Steve.

The 2004 X Factor winner caused a Twitter row, where at least three people waded in, after making an very inappropriate and insensitive ‘joke’ about child abuse victims.

Responding to some serious and disturbing allegations made against ex-prime minister Sir Edward Heath, Steve said: “Those kids moaning about Ted Heath touching them are just bitter. They need to get over it. Jesus it was years ago.”

Eek.

Steve insisted he was being sarcastic, but not before Twitter had exploded with fury. Among those who didn’t see the funny side (er, possibly because there was no funny side) was former Westlife singer Brian McFadden who gave Steve a well deserved ticking off.

“This @stevebrookstein account has to be fake. Even the real Steve brookstein wasn’t this much of a p***k.”

Um, where have you been Brian?

Brian’s tweet opened up a floodgate of literally two people calling Steve out for being a totally wally.

Here’s Twitter user Jason R: "I suppose he thinks the same about all the cancer kids, Saville touched them up Moron.”

Another, named Iain Devine, posted: ”@stevebrookstein seeking to capitalise out of other folks’ sexual abuse to sell his book…..“

But was Steve coward by this bombardment of literally tens of complaint? Was he, heck. He actually reposted an old joke he had made previous at the expense of child sex abuse victims.

The previous “joke” read: "Louis Walsh taking boys on a yacht. very Ted Heath. #XFactor.”

The tweet was accompanied by a caption reading: “Maybe now people will appreciate this old Ted Heath gag.”

Dear me, Steve. Back away from Tweetdeck…
