David Walliams has already released a video claiming he's not Maskface, but Saturday Night Takeaway viewers thought they'd found an end to the mystery today when Scarlett Moffatt was pictured with a copy of The Missing Crown Jewels script.

A script that listed Mary Berry as the notorious crown jewels thief who's determined to take over the country...

And as fans were celebrating their detective skills, it turns out Ant and Dec were planning a bigger surprise for tonight's show by revealing it was all just one big April Fool's Day joke.

That'll teach us for not paying closer attention to the date.

Although, it hasn't stopped some viewers from sharing their theories that it wasn't actually a joke at all and Scarlett really did just land the show in it:

Of course, with Mary Berry now taken out of the running and no episode of the Missing Crown Jewels airing this week, we still have a week of speculating over just who exactly has taken the crown and caused Ant and Dec a world of mischief.

Could it be Simon Cowell? Stephen Mulhern? Mary Berry anyway (which would make this April Fool's joke one pretty impressive and ballsy fake-out to the nation)?

We'll have to wait until next week's series finale to find out.

And that's a finale that will be live from Disney World in Orlando, Floria, remember - a trip that has just received a boost in numbers following tonight's Disney-themed Singalong Live with Louisa Johnson.

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway airs on ITV.
