In the aftermath of Sydnie Christmas' victory in this year's Britain's Got Talent, which triggered controversy over claims the result was fixed, hosts Ant and Dec have taken Instagram to reveal who they thought would win the show.

Previously, the popular Geordie duo penned their predictions on slips of paper that were sealed in large envelopes prior to the first live semi-final round and after the winner was announced, they revealed their guesses to fans.

Joined on stage by winner Sydnie as well as judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli and millions of their Instagram followers watching online, Ant and Dec opened their prediction envelopes, the Express reports.

First up was Dec, who revealed his notes read: "Sydnie Christmas and Jack Rhodes."

Ant McPartlin went next, announcing the same predicted duo: "Sydnie Christmas and Jack Rhodes."

Their prediction proved accurate, considering magician Jack secured the second spot. These correct predictions earned the duo praise from Simon Cowell who jokingly welcomed them onto the judging panel resulting in a wave of laughter across the stage.

To wrap up, Ant quipped: "Bye guys, we're in. We're the judges now! ," Their Instagram caption teasingly added: "Well you've heard it here first... see you next year on the judging panel," accompanied by a winking face emoji.

Sydnie managed to win over the audience with her impressive singing talents, earning the title of this year's winner on Sunday night.

Yet, it seems that not everyone was thrilled with the results, as viewers quickly headed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their opinions.

An irritated viewer posted: "Another @BGT fix another person who is trained in singing and theatre who has been on stage before... amazing singer but there were other acts who should have had their chance! Ah well.."

A second X user stated: "Obvious fix for Syndie to win, let's be real. Jack Rhodes got robbed of winning the show, by far the best act of the night. 2nd place for him."

The third jibed: "If it wasn't obvious enough that Sydnie Christmas is the favourite to win, whipping out Somewhere Over The Rainbow certainly does it #BGTFinal #bgt #BritainsGotTalent."

Despite the criticism, a number of ITV viewers celebrated Sydnie claiming the BGT 2024 crown.

An admirer wrote: "Sydnie Christmas is a very deserved #BGT winner. She was absolutely fantastic from the first audition."

Another added: "Well deserved Sydnie. I remember shouting at the TV "she's the winner" during her audition."
