Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is back back back people.

Despite smothering us in warm wit, incredible prizes and even a Gary Barlow musical section, McPartlin and Donnelly's grand return seemed to be plagued by sound issues.

Those tuning in shared their frustrations on Twitter as the premiere episode played out tonight (February 20).

"You can hear Ant or Decs earpiece! It's so annoying!!! Take note producer/director/sound [sic]," claimed one viewer, before a second noted: "Anybody else notice all the background sound on #SNT it's sooo distracting."

"Please fix the awful and annoying audience sound, absolutely ruining this show and wishing they weren't back now if that's going to happen all the way through," raged someone else.

"Anyone else noticed the audience sound, keeps bleeding over! Interference similar to a bad video call !" a fourth added, while another said of the sound issues: "The feedback from the virtual audience is a bit much they definitely need to sort the sound out on that one."

With a virtual audience wall brought in due to social distancing and travel restrictions, Saturday Night Takeaway manages to achieve some form of interactive atmosphere.

However, after such a negative reaction from fans, let's hope this technical problem is quashed by next week.

Upon being contacted by Digital Spy, ITV declined to comment.

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues next week (February 27) on ITV.
