It wasn't just Marvel fans left quivering by the harrowing ending to Avengers: Infinity War – it turns out, one actor who's a part of the MCU had the same experience.

Though you might think every star involved in Marvel's movies would be in on all the secrets, Ant-Man's Michael Peña – who plays Scott Lang's fast-talking pal Luis – told Digital Spy that he didn't know how the film would end when he watched it for the first time.

Infinity War, of course, concluded with Thanos (Josh Brolin) succeeding in his plot to 'restore balance to the universe' by wiping out half of its population (including many Marvel heroes).

Peña didn't appear in the film, which meant he was kept in the dark about its climax – and he had such a good time, it's encouraged him to keep spoilers from fans going forward.

"People ask if Luis survived the snap all the time," he revealed. "Especially when I'm doing interviews! Just all the time.

"But you don't want to give people spoilers, because it really ruins the experience for them. If I would have known the Thanos thing, it would have totally ruined the movie for me.

"I can understand the curiosity, but you don't want to mess it up for yourself."

The currently-untitled fourth Avengers movie will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019 and in the US on May 3, 2019.

There are plenty of fan theories going around suggesting ways that the Avengers who perished could be resurrected. But even if they do resurface, the film is expected to be the final MCU outing for the likes of Chris Evans' Captain America.

Expect your heart to break all over again...

Michael Peña stars in Narcos: Mexico, launching this Friday (November 16) on Netflix.
