Ant McPartlin has filed for divorce from his wife Lisa Armstrong after 11 years of marriage.

The couple wed in 2006 and have known each other for more than two decades.

A spokesman for Mr McPartlin told the Standard: "In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after eleven years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa.

"Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families."

A source reportedly told the Sun on Sunday: "It hasn't happened overnight, they have been having problems for ages.

"The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months — he’s given it a good go.

“They’ve met up and spoken about it a number of times and this is the decision he has made.

“They are getting divorced. He is obviously really upset about it.”

It was reported in November that McPartlin was moving to a rented house in London to be alone after checking out a rehab centre in the US over the summer.

Ahead of the most recent series of I'm a Celebrity, he told reporters: "“I’m feeling great. The flight was all right, I had a lot of sleep and me and Dec had a good catch-up."
